Festive Entryway/ Landing Area

We installed a shoe rack inside the house just at the entrance. It's one of those ugly metal ready to install vertical shoe racks. It's very functional but very ugly too. I wanted to do something such that the attention is drawn away from on the rack.  But a the same time didn't want something very extensive.

To my surprise just bringing in a pretty coir mat did the trick. I use it as a landing mat for our shoes before they go into the rack. 

Now my entry way is bright, colorful yet goes well with the rest of the living room.
